September 16th ...9am to noon...Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation Beach Sweep is gathering volunteers to clean streets and storm drains in various zones in Orleans Parish. If your group would like to take a zone (see Zone List), volunteer, or take locations in other parishes, please contact JoAnn at 836-2238 or joann@saveourlake.orgThe xxx'd zones on the list are already covered, but could always use more volunteers. Free picnic (by Outback) from noon to 2pm for all participants.

The Katrina Krewe has joined with New Orleans Fine Hotels to provide donated and discounted hotel rooms on a 1st come, 1st served basis, to our volunteers surrounding our monthly summer clean ups. Katrina Krewe will provide a voucher upon completion of our clean up, which should be presented to the hotel upon check out...all questions directly to New Orleans Fine Hotels

Making Change for Katrina, is a citizen driven campaign to collect a portion of the estimated $10.5 billion of spare change in American homes. In partnership with Habitat for Humanity and Coinstar, the campaign will help replace over 1,000 homes that were lost or damaged in the hurricanes last year www.makingchangeforkatrina.org.
